About The Artist.... Simone Hester

Simone Hester was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised on the far south side of the city. She found an interest in art at an early age. At the recommendation of her teachers, she began private art lessons at a small art studio in the suburbs of Chicago. She was tutored, mentored and exposed to a variety of art mediums from calligraphy, etching, Chinese watercolors, acryllics, and oil painting. There she developed a love for drawing and painting. She broadened her art education by taking a variety of elective art classes in high school and college. Upon college graduation, her first professional position allowed her to work in graphic designs and further her knowledge of computers. Once given a digital camera, she combined her love of computers, painting, and photographs to develop her very own technique in creative digital photography. The computer has become her paintbrush and allows her to stretch the natural boundaries that a typical photograph is held to. She recently left the traditional workforce to work on her art full time and contribute to her website (http://www.simonehester.com/) and write her blog on photography, art, and everything else she finds creative.

Why I love Chicago

Chicago is my home town and I love every bit of it, although I am currently a suburbanite most of my life and child hood memories are in and of the city.  And living in the suburbs has not stopped me from venturing to the city every chance I can get.  I love Chicago because it is such a wonderful mix of new and old, cuisines, cultures and pure excitement.  With that said it should be easy to understand that when it comes to taking pictures and creating my pieces that architecture is hands down my favorite subject matter.  And Chicago being one of my favorite cities to shoot.  From the straight lines of the skyscrapers, the black spear that was once called the Sears Tower, the warm stone of the Wrigley Building to the curves of "Cloudscape," affectionately called the "Bean" there are many wonders to shoot in this great city.  If you have never been to Chicago, then I strongly suggest that you put it on your list of places to go, trust me you will not be disappointed.  With that said the fine art photo that I just completed is a shot of the Wrigley Building and it is titled "Wrigley in Clouds."  I hope you enjoy it and remember that you can see this along with my other pieces at www.simonehester.com.
